Biotek, you need a separate 46xxsetting file for each group that you are using. For example my production phones on the network in the office are in default group 0 so they get 46xxsettings.txt. For a VPN phone in North America they get set to group 2 which gives them 46xxsettings_vpn_na.txt and for VPN phones in Europe they get set to group 4 which gives them 46xxsettngs_vpn_uk.txt. Each of the files have different settings. For a phone in the office they dont need all the http and concentrator information, they just boot via DHCP and get their informaton from the option 242 in the dhcp scope. If you would like me to send you copies of my 96xxupgrade.txt and 46xxsettings.txt files just send me a private email and I'll get them right over to you to use as an expample. I have no issue sharing what I have learned with you. (I will remove some of the sensitive information like concentrator addresses, groups and passcodes)

I experienced that loop, where the phone would go get the 46upgrade settings file, then the 46xxsettings.txt file, then a bin file. But it was failing to grab the file as it was in a different folder so the loop continued. This was determined by checking the IP_Tel log.

Don't use the group settings.
Connect the phones on the local LAN & let the phones boot up in VPN mode, when they show VPN fail then alter the settings on the phone (either use CRAFT or VPN) & manually disable the VPN on the phone. This setting will remain in flash memory unless some uses the 'Reset Values' function in the CRAFT set up. Restart the phone & it will boot up in 'local' mode. Phones with VPN enabled can then be moved to their remote location & will continue to start in VPN mode. Have fun! One day Avaya get round to to writing a 96xxupgrade.txt file that works so you don't need keep changing it when swapping between H.323, SIP & VPN phones. If I get the chance I will write it & post it unless someone beats me to it!!! |

Anybody lose their Auto Backup ability?
I used the latest 46settings file, ensured it was configured just like my current one. The option isn't there in the menu, and it doesn't backup after something has changed on the phone, screen never shows anything. 9630G IP One-X desk phone. EDIT: I had to unplug the phone to get the backup option to work again. Busy out/release and auto restart didn't do it for my one phone. That is messed up. I normally do a reset ip station to get the phones to take upgrades. Hope it doesn't do it that way also and lose the backup/restore. |

You must alter the 46xxsettings.txt file on your HTTP server. CNTL F and look for VPNPROC. Then SETVPNPROC 2. It is probably set to 1 now which means you can only view VPN settings, 2 gives the ability to view and change the settings. You must make this change and then download the file to the phone again.

I'm trying to downgrade the firmware, but guess I am missing something on how to do that. changed the 96xxupgrade file to point to the proper older bin, removed the newer bins just in case..phone won't take the file and download it. Must be some catch to downgrading I can't find any documentation on. Here is my 46xx file: SET VLANTEST 60 SET ENHDIALSTAT 1 SET PHNCC 1 SET PHNDPLENGTH 4 SET PHNIC 011 SET PHNLD 1 SET PHNLDLENGTH 10 SET APPSTAT 1 SET OPSTAT 111 SET PROCSTAT 0 SET PROCPSWD 27238 SET HEADSYS 0 SET PHY1STAT 1 SET PHY2STAT 1 SET SNMPSTRING public SET BAKLIGHTOFF 240 SET BRURI http://xx.xx.xx.xx/PhoneBackup/ SET MSGNUM 7350 SET SCREENSAVERON 60 ## VPN SETUP SET NVVPNCFGPROF 3 SET VPNPROC 2 SET VPNCODE "" SET NVSGIP xx.xx.xx.xx SET NVXAUTH 1 SET NVMCIPADD xx.xx.xx.xx SET NVIKEID "xxx" SET NVIKEPSK "xxx" SET NVIKEP1ENCALG 0 SET NVIKEP1AUTHALG 0 SET NVIKEP2ENCALG 0 SET NVIKEP2AUTHALG 0 SET NVVPNUSER "" SET NVVPNPSWD "" SET NVVPNUSERTYPE 1 SET NVVPNPSWDTYPE 1 SET NVXAUTH 1 Thanks |

Update, finally got the phones to downgrade. They have issues getting on the right VLAN now and picking up the proper IP. What a mess.
Anyway, when I force some of the ethernet settings, and when it does finally get onto the network, I can then modify the VPN settings now. Problem is I can't get it to work with my Cisco PIX vpn I have setup that already handles site-to-site and software client vpn. |

Edit: apparently the baklightoff feature has a different meaning now, it just dims, never turns the back light off?

Perhaps a silly question, but is there any way to disable the backlight softkey in 3.1?
Other things I suspect aren't possible, but would LOVE to be proven wrong: 1) Set the pair contacts to calls option 2) Either apply the PHNOL to calls made from contacts or do a match on the last N digits rather than the full string. |

First, some background info. We have an Avaya S8500 server with G700 media gateways. So one of our partners has an Avaya 9670 IP phone at home and everything works fine except for one thing. His IP phone extension is 1580, and his office extension is 1451. I set up a softkey on 1580 where it should dial voicemail and then switch to 1451 so that all he has to do is enter in his voicemail password.
The command is autodial 1500~p*1451. This works fine on the office phones and I even programmed one of my softkeys to see if it worked here, which it did. I even set it up on his office phone and that works fine too, but when he tries it from home, he sees a message on the screen that says the call is being forwarded, and it is being forwarded to 1451. The programming is the same but why is it forwarding the call instead of going to voicemail? |

Hi friends !!
Am stuck here with a strange problem. My 9620 phones get into discover mode if i log them out. This is happening on a new site of mine which is connected to main site running 8730 in duplex CM 5.2.1 over the LAN. Phones are working perfectly fine when logged in. Only when i log out this problem occurs. Iam using the fw 3.1 on these phones.Find below some more clarity on the scenario: DHCP string contains only the ip address of the HTTP/httpss server from where the phone picks up 46xx settings file. In the file itself i've given the MCIPADD=x.x.x.x, y,y,y,y where x=main server clan and y=LSP. I've got 6 CLAN's which are working perfectly fine in load balancing mode. But the moment i logout a phone, it goes into discover mode within 30-40 secs discovering forst the x ip-address and then the y ip-address.Comes up again asking for login in another 30-40 secs and if no login is given again goes into discover. It keeps on doing this over and again. I need to close this issue. Also iam not able to implement QKLOGINSTAT featue from 46xx file onto these phones. Iam using a value of 1 which means manual login each time but the phone still automatically logs in when restarted. |

Been looking for fw rel 3.1 or 3.1.1 and there's no files available on the Avaya website... it just says "There are no downloads available for this product / release. Please select one of the releases in the list above." ... and there are no releases listed beyond 1.5
Help!?!?!

I can see it on the support site :
https://support.avaya.com/css/appman...29882044#files Go to products , fill in 9600 series phones and select the download link on your left. On the main page of the download page you can see the 3.1.1 release. |

They've moved the downloads under Avaya One-X Deskphones (general)...

On 3.1.1 9620 and 9650 phones the call log works fine unless the caller leaves a voicemail. If there is a voicemail then there is no record of the call in the call log. The 4610 and 4620 phones we have still have call logs for calls that leave voice messages.
Does anyone have any ideas? |

Thanks for the quick reply. Uncommenting that option changed the behavior.

We are experiencing a situation where the idlefeatures softkeys are disappearing. The buttons will be displayed and then they disappear. Restarting the phone will not restore them, we have to clear or reset the phone and start over to get them to redisplay. The settings file has not been changed. Has anyone else experienced this?

I just received a shipment of 9620L phones and they have a firmware load of 3.125a. I can't find any reference to this load on support.avaya.com. Anybody know where I can download this and the reference documentation?

That is funny. We just got a shipment in our Paris office and I said to a co-worker "What is software load 3.125?" I haven't looked for any documentation yet.
